Stage by Stage wins NWS award
At the Romantic Novelists’ Association Summer Party on Thursday 19th May, it was announced that Stage by Stage had won the 2005 Joan Hessayon award. This award is made for the best novel each year which has been through the RNA New Writers’ Scheme and has found a publisher.
This is what Jenny Haddon, Chairman of the RNA and one of the NWS judges, has to
say about the book:
"Fortyish wife and mum is dumped on page one - and we're off on a roller coaster of
despair, anger, ruefulness, recovery and redemption - while keeping son and daughter
fed, watered and legal and the local rep theatre in business. Great pace, lively dialogue,
good jokes, well placed moments of profound emotion; and splendid characters - even
the walk-ons are stars. (Loved Yob, the problem schoolboy.) Seriously feel good - there
were three things I wanted to happen and they all did. Above all, a charming authorial
tone. There is a gem on every page."
Stage by Stage by Jan Jones, will be published by Transita in July 2005.
